Huntsville, Alabama – The Gulf South Conference (GSC) has selected the Huntsville Sports Commission (HSC) to host the Spring Championship Series Finals for men’s and women’s soccer.
“The GSC is excited to partner with the Huntsville Sports Commission,” said Mark Wilson, GSC Commissioner. “Their investment in our member institutions and the conference will help make this a fantastic event. The Rocket City will serve as a perfect host for our soccer student-athletes.”
The finals will take place at the John Hunt Park Championship Soccer Fields in Huntsville, Alabama, on Saturday, April 3, 2021. The finals will consist of two games with an expected 50 team room nights and an approximate $75,000 economic impact.
“We are honored to host the Gulf South Conference again in Huntsville and assure a safe and remarkable championship experience for the student-athletes, coaches, and Huntsville community,” stated Mark Russell, Executive Director of the HSC.
The Huntsville Sports Commission assisted the University of Alabama Huntsville (UAH) in hosting the GSC Cross Country Championships at the John Hunt Cross Country Running Course this past fall. The UAH Men’s Cross Country team secured the 2020 Championship title.
The bid process was a collaborative effort between the Huntsville Sports Commission, Huntsville Madison Country Convention & Visitors Bureau, and City of Huntsville.
“We’re thrilled that Huntsville will host the Gulf South Conference Soccer Championship Finals and enthusiastically welcome the players, coaches and fans to John Hunt Park in the Rocket City, said Judy Ryals, President & CEO of the Huntsville/Madison County Convention & Visitors Bureau. “Come out and enjoy this outstanding competition, which is just one of the many sporting events that add so much to our quality of life.”
