This Weekend, AVCA Fall Collegiate Beach Championships and GSC Soccer Championships Take Place in John Hunt Park

Huntsville, AL – The Huntsville Sports Commission, with assistance from the City of Huntsville, Rally Volleyball, and Huntsville/Madison County Convention & Visitors Bureau, will be hosting the American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) Fall Collegiate Beach Championships and the Gulf South Conference (GSC) Soccer Championships this weekend in John Hunt Park.

The GSC Soccer Championships kick off today, November 3, and will run through November 6 at the John Hunt Championship Fields located on the north side of John Hunt Park. Admission is $10 each day, and parking is free. Concessions will be open, with food and drinks available for purchase. Tickets can be purchased here.

Thursday, November 3

3:30 pm CT Semifinal (M) – 1 | #1 West Florida vs. #5 Auburn-Montgomery

6:00 pm CT Semifinal (M) – 2 | #7 Christian Brothers vs. #6 Mississippi College

Friday, November 4

3:30 pm CT Semifinal (W) – 1 | #1 West Florida vs. #5 Lee

6:00 pm CT Semifinal (W) – 2 | #2 Mississippi College vs. #3 West Alabama

Saturday, November 5

12:00 pm CT Final (M) – Semifinal 1 winner vs. Semifinal 2 winner

Sunday, November 6

12:00 pm CT Final (W) – Semifinal 1 winner vs. Semifinal 2 winner

The AVCA Fall Collegiate Beach Championships will run November 4-6 at the John Hunt Sand Volleyball Complex located on the south side of the park. This tournament will bring the top 64 pairs in the nation to compete for the ultimate championship title, with 44 different universities being represented.

The Fall Collegiate Beach Championships is the first-ever collegiate pairs tournament, as all other beach volleyball tournaments are team tournaments. Additionally, there will be 4 men’s teams competing, making this the first men’s collegiate beach volleyball tournament ever to take place.

Admission and parking for the AVCA Fall Collegiate Beach Championships event is free. There will be concessions, food trucks, a bar, and lawn games onsite. You can find the full schedule and keep up with which pairs are playing on each of the 15 courts here. We encourage you to bring a lawn chair or blanket.
